So you might remember that a couple of weeks ago I was gushing about Envotion, the very talented up and coming Dutch production 3-piece whose remix of Way Out West - Tales of the Rabid Monks is so bloody brilliant that I couldn’t stop playing it CONSTANTLY for about a week solid!
Well today I want to say a big thank you to the lovely Stijn from Envotion, who sent me an email to say thanks for the review – the pleasure is all mine, guys! I’m chuffed that you liked it. I think we’ve got ourselves a mutual appreciation society going on…cos when you keep producing such quality stuff, how can I NOT tell the world about it?!
Stijn also sent me a link to a live dj set that the boys recently did on Dutch national radio station 3fm, which I had to share with you – you can download the full mix here. And I can’t recommend enough that you do – it’s absolutely top drawer! It’s an hour of atmospheric, funky progressive house that will take you on a journey full of stars, smiles and sunshine! All topped off with theMonks remix at the very end, which really is the cherry on the cupcake. I don’t have a tracklist at the moment, but I’m gonna see if I can get hold of one.
I’m also loving Envotion’s own Streetwise. The track itself is ridiculously beautiful – building up layers and layers of gritty synths and airy melodies over the funkiest percussion-laden prog bassline this side of the Eurostar tunnel, but I also love the way the boys have set the video to classic 80s movie Streetbeats. Genius! Check out the breakdancing battle around the 4.10 mark. MJ had nothing on these boys…probably.
Also check out Envotion’s official Armada artist page here. It strikes me that Envotion could well be Armada‘s answer to theAnjuna A-list of Paul Keeley, Dinka, PROFF and Jaytech…and I don’t doubt for one second that they have the ability to emulate the success of the big boys.
So take a deep breath, Envotion - it looks like you’re heading for some dizzy heights!
Also have a look at her website:

And we are very happy with it
To anyone who’s a fan of house, prog or trance and hasn’t had their head stuck down a toilet for the past 15 years or so, Way Out West are fully-fledged legends and need no introduction. However, it’s this track, Tales of the Rabid Monks, that has just served to remind me of their greatness (and should also win a prize purely for having a totally superflously ridiculous name!). I’ve been playing it non-stop over the past week or so after hearing it on the ever-awesome Aussie producer Jaytech’s April podcast.
However, while the original is perfectly pleasant all on its own, it’s a little too chilled for my liking, and it’s this Envotion remix that really gives it a kick up the arse. And what a kick…this mix is funkier than a bag of badgers at a full moon festival! Envotion are one little three-piece suite that I wouldn’t mind having in my front room…at all times!
Before I get totally carried away by images of dancing badgers, I should add that this remix is part of Way Out West – We Love Machine (The Remixes), which is out on Beatport now. Go fetch!
Since some time ago we again played on the Dutch national radio. It was after a fairly long time that we played out again… and must say the enery coming for if felt massive again!
In the Hope label top ten we rank 6. For us this is insane news since all remixers were so very good!!
We are very happy chaps with this frontpage beatport notification!!!
